WordPress was made by developer Matt Mullenweg, and Mike Little. Mullenweg had the vision for how user-friendly the software was made to be, while Little had a focus on the technical aspect of the project.

In the begging, WordPress had a focus on blogging. This later expanded to what we have today, being able to support websites, forums, and online stores. According to Google, about 42%–43% of the internet’s websites are powered through WordPress, and the total number of sites is anywhere from 590 million to over 605 million.
